1. BACK UP your data first
1. Connect your device to a WiFi connection

2. Go into "Settings"

3. Tap "ICloud"

4. Tap "Backup"

5. Tap "Back up Now"

1. Plug your device into a PC or a Mac

2. Open "iTunes"
​
3. Find the IPhone Icon in the menu bar and click it
​
4. Click "Back Up Now"

5. Add a Password by clicking "Encrypt Backup"
2. Erase all your data
1. Go into "Settings"
​
2. Tap "General"
​
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page
​
4. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"
Android
1. Disable factory reset protection
1. Go into "Settings"
​
2. Disable any lock screen pass codes and fingerprints
​
3. Go back into "Settings"
​
4. Find the "Accounts" section and enter it
​
5. Tap on "Google"
​
6. Tap the three vertical dots on the top right corner
​
7. Tap "Remove Account"
​
*Samsung users would have to remove their Samsung accounts in step 4 as well
2. Encrypt your Data
1. Ensure that your phone is plugged into a power source (Charging)

2. Go into "Settings"
​
3. Go into "Security"
​
4. Select "Encrypt Phone"
​
*If you are running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher, this step can be skipped.
3. RESET your Phone
1. Go into "Settings"
​
2. Tap "Backup & Reset"
​
3. Tap "Factory Data Reset"
​
4. Tap "Reset Phone" or "Reset Device"
